Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment and using that awareness as our focus without judgment, instead of allowing ourselves to fret over past events or worrying about the future. Self-compassion helps to dissolve self-blame and self-hatred and responding instead with kindness, acceptance and understanding.

Mindful self-compassion also means holding difficult emotions such as fear, anger, sadness, shame and self-doubt—and ourselves, in loving awareness, leading to greater ease and well-being in our daily lives.

Caron incorporates mindfulness and compassion theory into her work with clients suffering from anxiety and depression.
