Charlotte Dalmadge

Charlotte Dalmadge
I am a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychodynamic Counsellor and Psychotherapist, working with children and young people up to 25 years old. I have over 17 years of experience working with children, young people, and families as a Social Worker, Counsellor, and Psychotherapist in various settings, including family centres, charities, and schools. I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and I work in adherence to the Ethical Framework of BACP.
I am passionate about the mental health and emotional well-being of children and young people. I believe early therapeutic support can help children and young people process and navigate their internal and external challenges, leading to a greater capacity for emotional resilience and creating lifelong changes. I create a safe, non-judgemental, consistent space that allows children and young people to feel reassured, heard and valued.
I use a client-led approach, which means the client directs the session. This allows clients to explore their interests, set the pace of therapy and establish the therapeutic relationship. I am experienced in facilitating the use of creative resources, such as art, sand tray work, and play therapy, to help children and young people express themselves if they choose to engage in this way. I believe symbolic communication and creative exploration are valuable tools for self-discovery.
