Taping

Taping has its origin in therapeutic sports treatments to provide support for joints and tissues, for rehabilitation of injuries and to help enhance performance in sports without affecting range of motion. The concept of using tape was initially developed in Japan in the late 1970’s. Newer methodologies have been developed that address benefits associated with preventative health maintenance and to support the body’s own natural healing processes. It can be used to:

  • Help reposition, support and protect joints
  • Relax overused and overextended muscles and other tissues
  • Alleviate pain
  • Reduce edema, inflammation and discomfort
  • Support rehabilitation from injuries
  • Provide proprioceptive feedback for body awareness and control

The tape is non-medicated which means everyone can use and benefit from it.

Taping can be offered during a Structural Integration (KMI) / Bodywork session. Prices range from £2-5 depending on the amount of tape used. Clients have the option to buy their own box of tape which can then be used at repeat sessions.
