More than Pilates classes offer an exploration into the whole body experience, it’s connectivity and integration in movement. The classes combine Pilates exercises, with functional movements and corrective training. In each class there will be a strong emphasis on fascial release with the use of small balls. Other tools such as gliding pads, bands and poles as well as free flowing work on and off the mat and in different orientations to gravity will be used to move and tone the body.


Moderate to Intermediate level on Monday 9.30 am, Wednesday 12.30pm and Thursday 9.30am

Moderate level suitable for Beginners Thursday 10.30am

The classes are adaptable, diverse and suitable for all ages, fitness levels and abilities including those with disabilities and restricted mobility. At The Centre, the osteopaths and other practitioners have recommended More Than Pilates classes to their patients as a compliment to their treatments to rehabilitate injuries. With consent, it is possible for the teacher and therapist to communicate and discuss the client’s progress.

What to expect in a class

Classes will take place in our beautiful studio and they are an hour long. You can bring your own mat or use a mat provided, and wear clothes that are comfortable to move in. You may either work barefoot or in socks. Wear layers to stay warm for the slower and more exploratory parts of the classes or to peel off for the more challenging elements.

You will be guided through a series of movements and sequences that can focus on exploration, awareness, release, concentration, breath, centering (a similar concept to core stability), flow and control. Exercises should never be painful, and they can always be adapted to suit your particular needs.

The classes can help you improve posture, balance, strength, flexibility, co-ordination and alignment as well as helping to restore vitality and enhance general well-being.

Medical conditions and pregnancy

If you are, or have recently been pregnant, or you have a medical condition, please discuss this when making your initial enquiry. The classes can be enormously beneficial in both cases, but you may be asked to gain consent of your GP or health practitioner before joining.

How many sessions do I need?

Development is an ongoing process, and many people find that their practice becomes a lifetime habit. In one block you will begin to get a feel for the work and gain a sense of where it may take you over time.

Ramona and Kat uphold and respect the fundamental principles of the Pilates Method whilst remaining open to change and evolution of one’s individual practice and changing needs. For example “core” stability will be addressed but instead of training one-dimensional core strength which does not improve functional movement patterns and can in fact lead to increased tension, exercises and flowing sequences are designed to focus on improving functional core connections that can actively support postural changes and movement patterns.

Ramona’s and Kat’s studies and experience in somatics greatly influence their classes and their teachings encourage class participants to be their own bodyworkers, leading to better health and well being.

Booking essential as there are limited spaces. Classes are open to all. If you have particular injuries or conditions that inhibit certain movements or cause pain check in with Ramona directly before signing up to the class.
