Jin Shin Jyutsu

Jin Shin Jyutsu

JSJ Physio- philosophy is an ancient art of harmonising the life energy in the body. It is the Art of releasing tensions which are the causes for various symptoms in the body. It is a valuable complement to conventional healing methods, inducing relaxation and reducing the effects of stress. Through Jin Shin Jyutsu our awareness is awakened to the simple fact that we are endowed with the ability to harmonize and balance ourselves (in rhythm with the universe) physically, mentally and spiritually.

How does it work?

Our bodies contain several energy pathways that feed life into all of our cells. When one or more of these paths become blocked, this damming effect may lead to discomfort or even pain. This blockage or stagnation will not only disrupt the local area but will continue and eventually disharmonize the complete path or paths of the energy flow. Jin Shin Jyutsu employs twenty-six “safety energy locks” along the energy pathways. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body, and spirit. A JSJ session lasts around an hour and doesn’t involve massage, manipulation of the muscles and bones or use of substances. It is a gentle art, practised by placing the fingertips (over clothing) on designated safety energy locks, to harmonise and restore the energy flow. This facilitates the reduction of tension and stress which accumulate through normal daily living.

More information

JSJ was rediscovered by Master Jiro Murai in early 20th century when he was pronounced terminally ill. By then Jiro as requested to be left alone in the mountains for 7days. During this time he practice meditation, fasted and practice various mudras (fingers positions). Jiro passed in and out of consciousness, but after that, he experience a great sense of calm and was healed. Upon his recovery he dedicate his life to the study of healing and to the study of ‘Jin Shin Jyutsu’ which he first called the ‘Art of Happiness’, the ‘Art of Longevity’ and then evolved into the ‘Art of Benevolence’ and finally ‘The Art of the Creator through the Man of Knowing and Compassion’. In the late 1940s Mary Burmeister, a Japanese American visiting post World War II Japan, serendipitously met and began studying with Jiro Murai, then he asked Mary to bring this gift to the west.
